Tales of the Cocktail!

We just got back from an incredible event in New Orleans...Tales of the Cocktail!  Met some awesome "cocktail" people, attended fun events and imbibed in delicious cocktails.  Many new spirits were there showcasing their products and Bonefish Grill had a great competition for the best new spirit.  What a fun competition and I was so happy to see one of my personal favorites...Square One Organic Vodka.

I also met Leigh, the Director of Beverage from Bonefish and got to see Allison, the Founder of Square One!  Check out a clip from Tales of the Cocktail and an interview with Leigh.  Was happy to hear Square One Organic Vodka won the competition and now will be in 5 restaurants initially and if all goes well will role out to more....go ORGANIC!!

SNAP and SUPPER...

What do these 2 things have in common you ask?  It was a collaboration of a new spirit by the company that makes ROOT (Art in the Age) and a wonderful farm to table restaurant, SUPPER, located on South St. in Philly.  The cocktails were delicious and the food was fresh!  I had the pleasure of meeting the owner/chef and was excited to learn about his farm.  He travels daily to pick what is fresh to serve in his restaurant.  The folks from SNAP were delightful and I always love trying new spirits.  I hope to create some interesting cocktails soon with SNAP and was honored to be a part of their launch party!

Pure Wine and Food...a wonderful experience

This was my first experience at Pure Wine and Food on Irving Place in NYC and I am so glad I ventured over.  They pride themselves on being the most innovative raw food restaurant in the city.  The menu is fresh and creative and it was hard for me to choose.  Their beverage specialties are original organic sake cocktails, sangria made with fresh fruit and organic and Biodynamic wines.  The sake mojito was delicious and refreshing.  The food is love on a plate - at least for me, as every ingredient in my squash blossom dish I LOVE!  Squash blossoms stuffed with truffled nut cheese, served with olive tampanade, fennel with capers, avocado...so many flavors and yet so delicious together!  I learned that nut cheese is made from nuts as opposed to cow, goat, etc...and was surprisingly delicious.  I also tried unfiltered organic sake - a cloudy (from the rice) but sweet sake and I will definitely be experimenting with some new organic cocktail recipes.  Stay tuned!
